A Good News Post

Curls gone

Correction First, I should have waited for the consultation with my surgeon before saying the MRI biopsy was cancerous. It’s not! It will be removed because it will most likely become cancerous. So that’s good-ish news. 👍🏻

Truly Good News my genes are good! 47 genes were analyzed, including the infamous BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes and the report reads “NEGATIVE: No Clinically Significant Variants Detected.”

Port of D’Arcy I’m a little more Frankenstein 🧟 than I was before the last post. There’s a nobby thing, the port, placed under my skin and below my right clavicle with about a two inch long incision mark. My bonus ghoul remark is it looks like a single-fanged Dracula 🧛‍♂️ punctured the right side of my neck. That’s where the little catheter tube, connected to the port, was inserted into a vein that takes blood and the medicine to my heart. I’ve been wearing turtlenecks all week.

Monday is my first chemo-immunotherapy. At 8 a.m. I’m actually ready for these tumors to shrink. In T’ai Chi we say, keep space open under your arms, like you’re holding an egg under your armpit.  That’s what it feels like under my right arm.

Gratitude to each person who has given me words of support and healing, checked in on me, sent thoughtful, delightful cards and gifts, and very helpful, experience-based advice (e.g.; I will be wearing sweatpants for treatments, will try wearing ice packs on my wrists and ankles to prevent neuropathy, and bringing a long charge cord for my iPhone)  Thank you. ☺️ 💕

Love,
D’Arcy

  1. Wow! What good news D’Arcy. I’m thinking of you and sending positive healing thoughts. I hope Monday will go smoothly and with ease. I’m not sure if you can read a good book during the treatment or possibly take a nice nap, or chat/text on your phone. No matter, sending you much love. Mom 🥰

    • Hi Mom! I will be prepared with stuff to do for sure! I have a little coloring book, will find a podcast, and maybe even read my Medical Qigong text. Love, D’Arcy

  3. Love you D’Arc. You got this. Which doesn’t even begin to say everything I really think and feel. I’d weild a sword and cut down all the cancer if I could. You’ll fight with grace and clarity and I’ll mentally, slay the monster. Kickass is what I know, kickass is what I’ll do. <3
